Merced County sheriff's officials on Wednesday were looking for a distraught woman who left her Delhi home early in the morning and hasn't been seen since.
Charlene McCombs, 65, is considered an "at-risk" missing person.
Between 6 and 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, she left her home in the 9000 block of Merced Avenue in Delhi, according to deputy Tom MacKenzie, a sheriff's spokesman. After her brother called and informed McCombs her mother had died, she walked out of her home and left the front door wide open.
McCombs has a medical condition, and it was unclear to sheriff's officials whether she left wearing shoes.
