The rains of Tuesday gave way to a blue sky this morning, a preview of what's to come over the Memorial Day weekend, forecasters predict.
A quarter-inch of rain fell in downtown Modesto on Tuesday, according to the Modesto Irrigation District.
That made it the wettest May day since ... well, last year, when .34 inches fell on May 1.
While some may think a May shower is rare, it's actually the eighth straight May the city has received precipitation, MID records show.
Never miss a local story.
More rain is expected on Thursday, but a clear sky and temperatures in the 80s are expected over the three-day holiday weekend.
The rain that fell Tuesday pushed the season rainfall total to 16.51 inches, eclipsing the 16.34 inches that fell in 2004-05 and making it the wettest season since 1999-00.
