ESCALON — A Linden man was arrested Wednesday morning after authorities said he stole a pickup and an attached flatbed trailer parked in front of a residence.
Kelly Mohl, 21, was taken into custody after he was found in an irrigation standpipe by a San Joaquin County Sheriff Department K-9.
He was treated at the scene for dog bite injuries, according to Sgt. Milt Medeiros of the Escalon Police Department.
Officers were dispatched at 9:22 a.m. after a report of a vehicle theft in progress in the 1000 block of La Mesa Street.
Never miss a local story.
The owner of the vehicle was following his stolen truck in a car.
Escalon police remained in contact with the victim, who said Mohl was traveling north on Brennan Road from Highway 120. Mohl eventually stopped the truck and fled on foot, the owner said.
Escalon police set up a perimeter at an orchard near Brennan and East Mariposa Road, and he was discovered by the K-9 about an hour after the initial report.
Mohl was arrested on suspicion of vehicle theft, resisting or delaying an officer, driving on a suspended license and felony possession of ammunition.
He apparently had bullets in his possession, police said.
