A bill that would compel university foundations to disclose information about donors advanced through an Assembly committee Tuesday.
Sen. Leland Yee, D-San Francisco, proposed the bill to make private foundations subject to open government standards that apply to public universities.
He has been a critic of the California State University Stanislaus Foundation for signing a contract with former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin that conceals her speaking fee.
She is to speak at a fund-raiser at the university Friday.
