Two Modesto residents are among the 314 remaining applicants for a commission that will be charged with drawing boundaries for state legislative districts.
More than 30,000 people initially submitted applications to join the commission, though only 4,547 completed the necessary paperwork by the April 19 deadline.
Bev Finley, a retired chief executive of Stanislaus Medical Center and a 2003 candidate for Modesto mayor, is in the running.
So is Ryan Swehla, a commercial real estate consultant active in several community groups.
Never miss a local story.
A selection committee must narrow the field of applicants to 60 by Oct. 1.
That committee meets next on July 19.
Ultimately, 14 people are expected to serve on the district-drawing commission.
