WHAT TO EAT: Fish and chips! Because of popular demand, a booth offering fish and chips has returned to the fair this year. Some folks may argue it isn't a county fair without a corn dog or linguiça sandwich, but the classic English favorite is popular as well.
HIGHLIGHTS: 4H-FFA mini-pack clinic, 1 p.m.; rabbit petting, 6 to 9 p.m.; photo judging, 7 p.m.
ARENA: Truck and tractor pulls, 6:30 p.m.

VARIETY FREE STAGE: KC and the Sunshine Band, 8:30 p.m.
CENTER STAGE: Ernie Bucio's Little Big band, 7 to 11 p.m.
COMMUNITY STAGE: Garden Party Band, 5:45 to 8:30 p.m.
CHARTER STAGE: Steve Bayner Hypnotist Show, 8:30 and 10 p.m.
HOURS: Gates open at noon; exhibit buildings close at 11 p.m.; carnival closes at 1 a.m.
PARK 'N' RIDE: 4:30 to midnight; Park and ride free from CSU, Stanislaus (Crowell Road off Monte Vista Avenue), or Pitman High School (Christoffersen Parkway). Shuttles run every 15 to 20 minutes.
WHERE: From Highway 99, exit at Fulkerth Road in Turlock and head east. For fairgrounds parking, turn right on Soderquist Road, or go past Soderquist for more parking; $4 per vehicle.
ADMISSION: $12 for adults, $3 for children ages 6 to 12, and free for ages 5 and younger
