Riverbank City Councilman Dave White is out of the hospital and in a Modesto area rehabilitation center, according to a family spokeswoman.
White, 71, was hospitalized June 10 after complaining of tightness in his chest while at a Riverbank diner. He did not have a heart attack but underwent surgery.
The spokeswoman said White was moved over the weekend and began his rehabilitation Monday. She said the rehabilitation is to help him regain the muscle mass and strength he lost after spending more than a month in the intensive care unit. She said he could be in the center for about a month before he goes home.
White has been on the City Council 18 of the past 25 years and was the city's first elected mayor.

He is up for re-election in November. The spokeswoman declined to comment on whether White would seek another term. He has until Aug. 6 to file for re-election.
