Turlock police have arrested a suspect accused of committing at least five robberies in Merced and Stanislaus counties.
Oscar Villarreal was taken into custody at 7:35 a.m. July 30 in the 900 block of Kenwood Avenue in Turlock after a patrol officer spotted him driving a car matching the description of a vehicle used in the robberies, according to Sgt. Nino Amirfar, Turlock police spokesman.
Villarreal, 33, told police he committed the robberies, Amirfar said.
Law enforcement had been on the lookout for Villarreal after Merced police released surveillance photos from the businesses that were robbed.
Detectives believe Villarreal robbed a Walgreens at 3098 G St. and an Arco on the 1400 block of Yosemite Parkway in Merced on July 25. He is suspected of robbing a Circle K market in Atwater on July 30, according to Lt. Andre Matthews, Merced police spokesman.
In Turlock, Villarreal is accused of robbing a Valero gas station at Golden State Boulevard and Olive Avenue on July 27 and a Chevron gas station at West Main Street and North Tully Road.
He was booked at the Stanislaus County Jail, where he remains without bail.
