Modesto firefighters were kept busy racing between fires early Sunday.
First, a construction trailer was destroyed at 2:23 a.m. About 15 minutes later, a Dumpster was aflame three miles away. Twenty minutes after that, a fence was reported burning roughly halfway between the first two fires.
A figure was seen running from the first blaze, at the trailer on a construction site in the 900 block of McHenry Avenue, said Dan Hinshaw, battalion chief for the Modesto Fire Department. The trailer was a complete loss, he said.
Next, a large Dumpster fire began among pallets and trash in the 1800 block of Prescott Road, Hinshaw said.
Never miss a local story.
The fence fire was in the Virginia Corridor, along West Briggsmore Avenue near College Avenue. About 10 to 15 feet of fence and an old couch burned there, Hinshaw said.
Arson investigators said the fires Sunday morning do not appear to be connected to the spate of small fires set the night of Aug. 2 and Tuesday, Hinshaw said. Those fires burned parts of two vacant homes, two grass areas, a Salvation Army donation container and a trash container by a building.
Anyone with information about the fires is asked to call 572-9590.
