A stretch of Highway 108 connecting Modesto to Riverbank will be named after Kirk Lindsey, the trucking company owner and transportation leader who died last year.
Lindsey, 62, spoke up for the San Joaquin Valley for nine years on the California Transportation Commission.
He also was a Beyer High School swim coach, a past chairman of the Modesto Chamber of Commerce and a member of the California Partnership for the San Joaquin Valley.
Sen. Dave Cogdill, R-Modesto, wrote a resolution naming the highway after Lindsey, and the Legislature adopted it late Monday.
Never miss a local story.
"Naming this highway after Kirk is a fitting tribute to a man who championed the valley and was unrelenting in his efforts to improve our region's roadways," Cogdill said.
