WESTLEY — Stanislaus County sheriff's detectives on Thursday were looking for information and anyone involved in the Wednesday night shooting death of a Newman man found wounded in a small residential neighborhood just west of Highway 33.
Sheriff's deputies performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation on 21-year-old Anthony Bueno until medics arrived. Shortly after, Bueno was pronounced dead at the scene.
The shooting was reported about 8 p.m. at Livingston Circle and Griscott Way, just north of Howard Road. Several people called to report that someone had been shot in the area.
Deputies responded to the scene and found Bueno with gunshot wounds, lying on the ground in a grassy vacant lot near the sidewalk, said deputy Andrew Winter, a sheriff's spokesman.
