American Medical Response medics treat John Bassett for smoke inhalation after he worked to protect his neighbors' mobile home, which was gutted in a Tuesday night fire.
No one was hurt in the blaze east of Modesto on Yosemite Boulevard, but one park resident in another home complained of suffering from smoke inhalation.
The cause of the fire is being investigated, said Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Protection District Battalion Chief Paul Spani.
A couple lives in the house at Holiday Manor Mobile Park, but neither of the inhabitants was there when fire crews responded at 7:55 p.m.
Spani had not seen them by 9:30 p.m.
