Target is offering field trip grants of up to $700 a class. Applications are available at www.target.com/fieldtrips, and must be turned in by Sept. 30. According to the American Association of School Administrators, 51 percent of schools nationwide have eliminated field trips for the coming school year, up from 11 percent two years ago. Last year Target grants sent Fairview first-graders to see Calaveras Big Trees State Park; Enochs High civics students went to the state Capitol. Turlock and Johansen high schools also won grants.
