A Saturday afternoon fire burned wood pallets, a few outbuildings, some debris and grass along Crows Landing Road near the northbound entrance to Highway 99 in Modesto, fire officials said. No injuries were reported.
Modesto fire Battalion Chief Dan Hinshaw said no nearby businesses were damaged, except for the outbuildings. He said the fire started about 2:30 p.m., and it took about an hour for firefighters to get the blaze under control. Investigators had not determined the fire's cause or origin.
Northbound 99 traffic was not affected. A portion of Crows Landing Road was closed as firefighters moved in equipment to fight the fire. Ceres Fire Department assisted in putting out the blaze.
