Pacific Gas & Electric Co. has identified an employee who died Friday afternoon in what sheriff's officials called an apparent electrocution near the city of Tuolumne.
Gerald Biedinger, 57, was pronounced dead at the scene.
PG&E spokeswoman Nicole Liebelt said Biedinger was a transmission and distribution equipment operator, and he had been with the company for about 33 years. He worked out of Angels Camp.
PG&E was still investigating the cause of the accident.
