A man was injured Friday afternoon when his car went off a road and struck a cement wall along Pelandale Avenue, just west of McHenry Avenue in north Modesto, police said.
The crash occurred about 4:40 p.m.
The driver, a man in his mid-20s, was heading east in a Honda Accord and lost control of his vehicle, then hit the wall. Modesto police said the driver suffered minor to moderate injuries and was taken by ambulance to a Modesto hospital.
Witnesses told police the Accord was seen weaving along the road at speeds up to 80 mph and passing other vehicles before the crash. Police said the man was driving under the influence of alcohol. The driver's name was not available Friday night.
There were no passengers in the car and no other vehicles were involved.
A portion of Pelandale was closed to traffic for more than an hour.
