Merced County Regional Waste Management Authority has scheduled a household hazardous waste event at the Highway 59 landfill on on April 26 for conditionally-exempt small quantity generators and on April 27 for residents.
There is no cost for Merced County residents, but fees do apply for CESQGs. The event is by appointment only. To schedule an appointment, call A.C.T. at (209) 722-4228.
HHW is any leftover household product that contains ingredients that are corrosive, reactive, ignitable/flammable, and/or toxic. Among items are ammonia-based cleaners, non-empty aerosol cans (empty ones can go into a curbside recycling can), automotive and household batteries, paints/stains, pesticides, pool chemicals and used motor oil.
