Re “Mayor Squirrel Hunter aiming wrong direction” (Letters, Feb. 17): The letter writer states, “Old unsuccessful leaders produce old unsuccessful results and Atwater is a textbook case.” Really? Then why would you appoint a sergeant, still on probation since being newly advanced to that rank, as your interim police chief?
The letter continues, “City Manager Art de Werk authorized an outside investigation of police operations.” Again, instead of looking into all of Atwater’s departments and getting the complete picture his focus is only on the police department? Lastly, does part of DeWerk’s “new outside leadership” include lashing out at anyone who speaks out against his complete lack of leadership?
