Dawna Gierman: Poor EMS response in Atwater

Today I was in Atwater at the new Dollar Tree and Big 5. An elderly woman fell and broke her arm on the curb.

I have to say I was shocked at the lack of response from Atwater emergency services and RAS. As she lay on the hot concrete in shock and injured, we waited approximately 25 minutes with no sirens, no Atwater fire, no ambulance.

Multiple calls to 911 were met with endless questions about where we were even though the answer was given multiple times.

When an RAS ambulance finally arrived, it came with no sirens, cruising into the lot slowly.

The EMS personnel seemed very uncaring for the woman and as she explained she felt like she would pass out, as the personnel forced her to stand up, grabbing her by her broken arm and hoisting her up onto a gurney.

Is this the response we get from Atwater in an emergency? Is this how RIGGS ambulance service treats its patients? I hope I never have an emergency in Atwater or in an area that requires this substandard ambulance service to respond.
