I’ve worked at the election for more than 20 years. This election, a young boy came to my precinct and wanted to vote. We asked him if he was 18; all of my crew figured he was 12 or 13.
His answer touched all of our hearts. “Yes, but I’m kidding; I just can’t wait to be able to vote, and when I grow up I want to be a Marine.”
I told him he should run for president. My crew was so excited to see this young boy so proud to be American. I wish he would be on the TV or on the front page of the Merced Sun-Star. All of my workers want to thank the parents of this young boy that loves his country and city. It gives me hope that maybe some adults that don’t take the time to vote could learn a lesson from this young boy.
Everyone should take the time to vote, love their country and support the town they live in. With Veterans Day coming up, please take the time to thank a veteran for their service.
Never miss a local story.
