To all the folks out there who want to disarm American citizens, take a look at this: The number of firearms manufactured in the U.S. for American customers in 2012 was 8.3 million, up 33 percent over 2011. The data published by the FBI regarding increased gun ownership coincides with a reduction in violent crime. The FBI’s firearms background check system, NICS, showed the number of checks increased from 8.9 million for the first six months of 2012 to 11.4 million in the same period of 2013.

The FBI released a report of the numbers of violent crimes comparing the first half of 2012 to the first half of 2013. This report shows a 5.4 percent decrease for the first half over the first half of 2012. Murders decreased 6.9 percent, rapes 10.6 percent, robberies 1.8 percent and aggravated assaults 6.6 percent. The police chief of Detroit told city residents, if you want protection, buy a gun. This is a man who at one time was an avid anti-gun person. If you don’t like guns, don’t buy one. But don’t mess with my right to own one.
