Florence Lambert: Blame for violence is misplaced

Thousands of innocent people die every day due to other horrible causes, such as drunken drivers. Does that mean we should not print large ads regarding vehicles or alcohol for sale?

Two Letters to the Editor, “Gun ad inappropriate” and “Gun ad bad way to earn dollars” (Letters, June 10), regarding the full page gun ad the Sun-Star ran, did cause me pause.

Yes, the recent tragic events, along with many tragic events involving guns, are beyond horrible.

Thousands of innocent people die every day due to other horrible causes, such as drunken drivers. Does that mean we should not print large ads regarding vehicles or alcohol for sale?

My point being, to crusade against a gun ad, to me, seems so nonproductive. Instead, why not use this energy in so many available productive avenues, such as becoming a Big Brother or Big Sister?

Help young children become decent and good young adults. Just saying ...
