William Phillips: Compassion for kids

Regarding “What happened to America’s compassion?” (Perspective, July 5): The better question, what happened to the compassion and responsibility of the parents who have children in squalor and poverty?

Regarding “What happened to America’s compassion?” (Perspective, July 5): The better question, what happened to the compassion and responsibility of the parents who have children in squalor and poverty?

Do these people care? Why would anyone bring a child into this world under these conditions? I’m sorry, it doesn’t take a village to raise a child. It takes two loving, caring parents.
