While driving by the Merced High School on Olive Avenue on Sunday, I noticed the lawn sprinklers were operating, with an abundance of water flowing onto the sidewalk and down the gutter. Come on – 2 p.m. (hottest part of the day), sidewalk flooded and valuable water heading down the drain. For the most part, citizens of this county are trying to do their part to conserve water; shouldn’t our local government do the same?
