Dave Cline: Close enough’ is not good enough

Recent Sun-Star letters have given opinions on the competence of Atwater’s Mayor Joan Faul. Opinions aside, lets check the facts: At the November 2013 City Council meeting, Mayor Faul made the motion to reappoint the incumbent, a non-Atwater resident, to another term on the Merced Mosquito Abatement Board. With no support, that motion was defeated by the council 4-1. Four years ago, Faul was informed, our mosquito board representative must be an Atwater resident. She replied that “he lives close enough.” He was appointed by the council, anyway. I believe that “close enough” is not good enough. What other questionable actions has Mayor Faul taken? If this bothers you like it bothers me, vote this November for change.
