Three men walking home after purchasing beer on Saturday were confronted by a group of robbers, one of whom was armed, according to Merced police.

The incident happened around 8:25 p.m. when the victims were walking northbound in the 300 block of Q street, said Sgt. Rodney Court.

They were confronted by four black men, described as being tall and thin, possibly in their late teens to early 20s. The victims told police they were wearing dark hooded clothing.

One of the men pulled out a chrome revolver and demanded the victims' wallets, Court said. During the incident, one of the victims was struck with the revolver and knocked to the ground, according to Court.

The four men were last seen running eastbound into the Commons Apartments, he said. It's unclear if they got away with the victims' wallets or other personal property.

Police are asking anyone with information about the incident to call (209) 385-6913, (209) 385-4702 or the department's automated tip line at (209) 385-4725. Tips can be sent via text message to TIP411 (847411). Include “COMVIP” in the text message.
