WINTON — A 31-year-old man who was shot early Monday is expected to survive.
The Merced County Sheriff’s Department responded to the incident after 12:30 a.m. Monday near West Walnut Avenue and North Center Street, said deputy Delray Shelton.
Deputies found the man with a gunshot wound to his left inner thigh, Shelton said. He was transported to a Modesto-area hospital.
Authorities said they don’t think Monday’s shooting was connected to Saturday’s shooting in the Atwater area that left three teens dead.
It’s unknown if Monday’s shooting was gang-related, Shelton said. No suspects have been arrested and no other injuries were reported. Anyone with information about this incident can call the Merced County Sheriff’s Department at (209)
