18-year-old man shot in south Merced

An 18-year-old man is expected to survive after being shot Tuesday night in south Merced, police reported.
No suspects have been arrested and the motive remains under investigation.
Police responded to Childs Avenue and Q Street at 8:30 p.m. after receiving several calls, according to Lt. Matt Williams.
Officers found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound to his lower body. Police believe the victim was walking home with his sister from a store at Childs Avenue and R Street when he was shot.
Police said the victim couldn't give many details about the incident, but said that culprits were four males who took off running from the area on foot. No further description was given.
The victim was taken to a Modesto hospital.
