Three people were shot early Saturday morning at a Meadows Avenue apartment complex -- the second shooting on that street in two weeks.
No suspects are in custody.
Merced police responded to the complex at 3125 Meadows Avenue before 12:30 a.m. and found two victims on the ground, in the complex's parking lot. Officers also found a a female victim in the area. The two men were described as being in their late teens/early twenties, and the female is around 16 or 17 years old, according to Lt. Bimley West.
Riggs paramedics arrived to treat the victims. The men were flown to a Modesto hospital, and one of them had life threatening wounds. The female was treated locally.
Another shooting was reported on Meadows Avenue earlier this month. On April 13, two male juveniles were shot in the same area, in the 3100 block of Meadows Avenue. In that case, officers responded to the scene about 7 p.m. and found the two victims suffering from gunshot wounds, and two other juveniles who were hurt after jumping through an apartment window to escape the shooting.
Witnesses said the assailant, described as a black man in his early 20s, walked by the area, pulled out a gun and fired a single shot toward the juveniles, who were standing in front of an apartment. The bullet went through one of the boys, and then hit another boy standing behind him.
Police are asking anyone with information about Saturday's shooting to call Sgt. Scott Skinner at (209) 385-4702 or the department's automated tip line at (209) 385-4725. Tips can also be texted to TIP411 (847411) with "comvip" as the keyword. Tips are kept confidential and individuals can remain anonymous.
