Firefighters are battling a 100-acre fire off Carstens Road, east of Highway 140 in the Midpines area of the Sierra National Forest and residents in the Clarks Valley and Jerseydale areas are being evacuated, Cal Fire said.
The fire ignited at about 2:10 p.m. west of Yosemite National Park, and has the potential to burn more than 1,000 acres, officials said.
Numerous aircraft are battling the fire and more crews from out of the area, including Fresno County Cal Fire, have been called in to help.
