One of the two men injured in a double shooting Tuesday afternoon was released from the hospital Wednesday — but he's not giving police information about the shooter, officials said.
The two victims, both Latino males in their 20s, were dropped off in front of a residence in the 2100 block of Valeria Street. They were later flown to hospitals outside Merced County, police said.
One victim remained in "grave" condition Wed-nesday night, according to Police Chief Barry Mann.
The victim who was released from the hospital has been questioned by police, but isn't giving them much to go on, Mann said.
Although the motive for the shooting is under investigation, Mann said the incident doesn't appear to be a random act.
Police believe the shooting did not occur inside the Dos Palos city limit, and the victims were suffering from gunshot wounds when they were dropped off by a dark-colored Ford Taurus.
No weapon has been recovered.
Mann said that police are investigating several leads related to the incident. "We are hopeful that we will be making an arrest soon," he said.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Police Department at (209) 392-2177.
