Merced police responded to a break-in at the Lor Star Market early Wednesday morning and made one arrest for commercial burglary, while another suspect remains at large.
Police arrived at the scene after midnight following an alarm at the market, located at 1730 East 21st St. The window had been broken out of the store, and the owner reported that a cash register containing $40, plus a case of beer, were missing, according to police.
After obtaining descriptions of two male suspects from a witness, officers Nathan McKinnon and Emily Christensen detained a suspect near Carol and Merced Avenues. The witness positively identified the suspect, 23-year-old Alejandro Gonzales. The other suspect hasn’t yet been found.
The officers reported finding a case of beer nearby, although the stolen money was not recovered. Gonzales was booked into the Merced County Main Jail for commercial burglary.
