A man died Friday morning after his truck drifted off the road on eastbound Highway 140, just west of Sultana Drive, the California Highway Patrol reported. The man’s identity was not released Friday while the coroner’s office tried to reach his family. According to witnesses also traveling at the time, the man’s 2004 Chevy Silverado drifted off the road and onto a dirt shoulder just before 10 a.m. His vehicle then collided with a small cable box and mailbox, and began to rollover several times. The mailbox was sturdy, made from a sawed-off telephone poll, CHP Officer Luis Lara said. The man was wearing a seat belt, but sustained fatal injuries from the collision.
It is unknown at this time if alcohol was a factor in the accident, according to the collision report.
