Madera County sheriff’s detectives are investigating a home-invasion robbery early this morning in Chowchilla.
Sheriff's spokeswoman Erica Stuart said three men -- one of them armed -- broke into a home on Avenue 24 in Chowchilla about 3 a.m.
The bandits -- all wearing ski masks – stole an undisclosed amount of cash and fled. The resident was asleep at the time of the break-in and was not injured.
One of the men is about 5 feet, 8 inches tall and weighs about 200 pounds. He wore a dark-colored, long-sleeve shirt, black sweatpants and what appeared to be weightlifting gloves.
Stuart said deputies do not believe the crime was random. The three took off in a vehicle that sounded as if it had a broken muffler.
Anyone who may have information about the robbery is urged to call the Madera County Sheriff’s Department at (559) 675-7770 or Crime Stoppers at (559) 498-STOP.
