The Merced County Economic Zone has been granted final designation from the State Department of Housing and Community Development.
The enterprise zone, which has been operating under a conditional status since 2006, is a tool used in depressed areas of the state to create job opportunities. The status allows tax credits to be used as incentives for businesses to hire local displaced workers. Businesses in the Merced County Enterprize Zone can also apply for tax credits on certain machine purchases and accelerated expense deductions for certain types of property.
Businesses can obtain more information by calling Dave Heyer at the Department of Workforce Investment at (209) 724-2027.
