The Merced County Human Services Agency received more than 1,000 gifts for its holiday gift drive. Many of the more than 900 children who received gifts were foster children. Holiday gift baskets were also provided for more than 40 families.
The HSA began the gift drive shortly after Thanksgiving and was helped from a number of community groups.
County employees volunteered time after hours throughout December to wrap presents and assist with the gift drive. Social workers delivered gifts and food to needy families on Christmas, including more than 600 foster children.
