Merced County Courthouse Museum said it will open Jan. 14 a new exhibit called “Pioneering Classes: Early Years of Merced County High School."
Merced Union High School was organized in 1895. Since Merced High, there have been 12 more high schools established in Merced County, with Buhach Colony High School the latest.
Thr exhibit explores the challenge of founding a new school and remembers the pioneering classes of the various high schools. To celebrate the opening of the exhibit, the Merced High School Choir, under the direction of Brad Reed, will perform at 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 14.
The exhibit will run through April 3.
