2:39 p.m. A Cal Fire investigator said the initial fire burned multiple marijuana plants growing near the home on Eucalyptus Avenue. Fire officials haven't yet determine what caused the fire.

1:27 p.m.: Cal Fire officials say the fire has been contained. The fire burned between five and six acres of land and two trailers of discarded tires, according to Capt. Robert Delarosa. The strong winds contributed to the fire's spread, he said. Earlier statements that the fire was burning four trailers of tires were overestimated.

It took 25 firefighters and 10 pieces of equipment to contain the blaze, which started around 11 a.m. and jumped from the single-story structure on Eucalyptus Avenue into the 10-acre field.

Harland Vreszler rents the property and said he didn't know who owned the trailers, which have been on the site for about 10 years.

Earlier: WINTON -- Cal Fire firefighters are battling a blaze in Winton involving two trailers of discarded tires. The fire has already destroyed a house and spread to a nearby field. There are no known injuries. Winton resident Rebekah Finn was working in her yard on Bronson Street when she saw the fire across the field from her home. The fire started in a home on the 5800 block of Eucalyptus Avenue and quickly spread to two vehicles and a tomato field, eventually igniting the trailers, she said.

Jesus Maldonado, owner of 10 acres of land neighboring the junkyard, said the tires have been at that location since the 1970s.
