A good, clean time
Atwater High School assistant cross country coach Jeff Stopper polishes a time keeper before the start of a meet in Applegate Park Wednesday afternoon. The piece was abandoned in the gymnasium of the former Castle Air Force Base and was found when Stopper's employer, Big Creek Lumber, took over the property. Immediately recognizing the piece's value, Stopper, a distance runner himself, brought it back to life to give student runners a glimpse of the big time.
"It really spices up the race," Stopper noted.
