Our Chairman Sharon Roper is still taking applications for several $1,000 scholarships, plus the Joyce Bigham Memorial scholarship that is $1,000 that is given out. This scholarship is provided by Mr. Don Belden of Los Banos, long time companion of Bigham’s.
The deadline is February, 28. If you are a bowler in the Merced Country Bowling Association and have any family members that are graduating seniors this year in Merced County. It could be your child, nephew or niece, step child, grand kids, or a student that is in college, university, or trade school now they can submit an application.
The student must be younger than 25 years old as of February 28, 2018. Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher and the application must include an official school GPA for the current fall semester. There are other certain standards that the student must meet that are on the application.
The $1,000 can help with books, gas to get to class, meals, etc. Applications are available at Bellevue Bowl. If you need more information on the scholarships, contact Mrs. Roper at 209-357-0493.

Modesto USBC BVL Tournament
A total of five locals seniors placed in the high game pot last Friday afternoon during the Modesto USBC Annual Fundraiser for the BVL for the year. One more squad was hitting the lanes last Sunday at Yosemite Lanes in Modesto. Winning a few bucks in the high game pots were T.J. Rowen, Bob Simons, Janie Schropp, Julie Egleston, and Greg Bennett. Egleston and Bennett both rolled 300 games. Final overall series three game results will be coming out in 30 days.

Central Valley Seniors:
Starting off the 2018 season will be the Central Valley Senior Bowling Club with a singles event at West Lake Bowl in Stockton. The event will be this Saturday, Feb. 17 at 1 p.m.
Again this year Delta-Sierra Beverage of Modesto will furnish the winners of each tournament a champions plaque. All of their tournament are handicap and you can join the club if your are 55 and over for men and 50 and over for the women. Membership is only $20 per year and entry to their tournaments is only $40. The club is USBC sanction. Winner checks are cut the same day of the tourney.

Up coming is the 13th Annual Senior 9-pin No-Tap Tournament on March 2 and 9 with three squads. Entry fee is only $15 which includes your high game pot for men and women. I will have a group going up for the last squad on 1:30 p.m on March 9. More info next week. Get in touch with me if your interested.
Scratch 6 gamer at Yosemite Lanes
This Sunday will be the monthly Yosemite Lanes scratch 6 gamer with check-in at 11 a.m. and bowing starts at noon. The pattern with be the PBA Dick Weber (45 feet). Entry fee is only $60 and 1 in every 3 entry's will cash. Freddy Irvin of Freddy's Tree Service has added money to the prize fund. There will be optional brackets, high game pots, last game pot, and senior insurance. We have some local bowlers who could compete in the event.
Note: I will have the final results of last Sunday's Battle of the Sexes from the King & Queen tournament held last weekend. It looked like a great showing for the association.
