Connor Greene finished out his record run at the 2013 Bay Valley Conference Championships in style.
Fresh off his record-setting swim in the 100-yard breast stroke on Friday, the Merced College sophomore captured another individual title on Saturday. Once again he just edged out teammate Luke Baum — this time by five hundredths of a second — to capture the 200 breaststroke crown.
Greene was named the BVC Swimmer of the Year and the Blue Devil men won the conference title for the sixth straight year. MC went coast-to-coast, beating Sequoias by almost 600 points.
The Merced College women gave it a valiant effort, but had their BVC title run end at five. Sequoias fought off the Devils for a slim 311-point victory.
Maria Lima took second in the 100 freestyle and the quartet of Courtney Frampton, Emily Heindel, Kellie Ketchum and Anjele Kapeghian took second in the 400 free relay, but MC couldn’t get enough top-three finishes to chip away at the COS lead.
