Raleigh, NC (SportsNetwork.com) - Ralston Turner erupted for a game-high 23 points as the NC State Wolfpack claimed a 65-56 win over the Maryland Terrapins in ACC action at PNC Arena.
Also scoring in double figures for the Wolfpack (12-7, 2-4 ACC) were Desmond Lee and Anthony Barber with 14 and 13 points, respectively, as the squad snapped a three-game slide.
Evan Smotrycz and Dez Wells both tallied 10 points, the latter shooting just 2-of-11 from the field, as the Terrapins (11-8, 3-3) bowed for the third time in four games.
NC State ran out to a 7-0 advantage to begin the meeting, but the team ended up shooting a miserable 6-of-27 from the field and missed all eight chances behind the 3-point line in the frame, allowing Maryland to take a 29-20 advantage at the break. Far from perfect, the Terps shot only 33.3 percent from the floor through the first 20 minutes of action.
In the second half NC State turned it around, sinking an impressive 56.7 percent from the field, including 5-of-11 beyond the arc, in order to put some distance between itself and the Terrapins in the nine-point decision.
The difference in the contest took place at the free-throw line where the Wolfpack, which turned the ball over a mere eight times, outscored Maryland by a 14-5 margin.
