San Francisco, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Cole Dickerson tied a season-high with 28 points, as the San Francisco Dons outlasted the Santa Clara Broncos, 75-66, in West Coast Conference action at War Memorial Gymnasium.
Dickerson shot 12-of-17 from the field and added eight rebounds for USF (13-8, 6-3 WCC), which has won back-to-back games. Kruize Pinkins netted 14 points, Mark Tollefsen scored 12 and Matt Glover hauled in 13 rebounds.
For Santa Clara (10-12, 3-6), Jared Brownridge shot 5-of-10 from 3-point range and 9-of-10 from the foul line, scoring a career-high 30 points for the second consecutive game. Brandon Clark added 12 points for the visitors but also committed five turnovers.
USF dominated the opening half of play, shooting 50 percent from the field while holding Santa Clara to just 28.6 percent, as it went into intermission with a 34-22 lead.
The Broncos cut their deficit to four points on a handful of occasions in the second stanza, including with 54 seconds left on a Yannick Atanga bucket, but the Dons sealed their fate by finishing the contest on a 9-4 run.
USF held a convincing 41-24 advantage in the rebounding battle and outscored Santa Clara in the paint, 36-28.
