Los Angeles, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Xavier Johnson scored 20 points to lead five players in double figures as the Colorado Buffaloes upended the USC Trojans, 83-74, in a Pac-12 joust at the Galen Center.
Askia Booker added 18 points and Josh Scott finished with 17 for Colorado (19-7, 8-5 Pac-12), which has won four of its last five. Xavier Talton had 14 points and Jaron Hopkins netted 10 off the bench.
Byron Wesley tallied 21 points and eight rebounds to lead USC (10-15, 1-11), which has lost six straight and 11 of its last 12. J.T. Terrell contributed 14 points as a reserve.
Colorado connected on 53.6 percent of its shots from the floor, including a 5- of-10 showing from 3-point range, in the first half. USC hit on a solid 45.8 percent from the floor, but had just one 3-pointer and trailed, 40-32, at the break.
Over the final 20 minutes Colorado shot at a 46.4 percent pace, which was more than enough to hold off USC, which turned in a 31.6 percent showing in the second period.
Colorado outscored USC, 19-15, off of turnovers. Led by Terrell, the Trojans had a 39-11 edge in bench scoring.
