Sacramento, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Paced by Mikh McKinney's 19 points, the Sacramento State Hornets clinched a spot in next week's Big Sky Conference Tournament by defeating the Montana State Bobcats, 84-59, in the regular- season finale at The Nest.
Cody Demps added 17 points for Sacramento State (14-15, 10-10 Big Sky), which snapped a three-game losing streak to secure a postseason berth. Eric Stuteville and Dylan Garrity netted 12 points apiece, with Garrity adding six assists. Jordan Salley hauled in 10 rebounds for the hosts.
Terrell Brown put up 15 points to pace Montana State (14-17, 9-11), which has lost three straight and failed to qualify for the conference tournament. Flavien Davis poured in 12 points, while Paul Egwuonwu posted a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Sacramento State opened up a commanding 38-21 lead at intermission after shooting 48.4 percent from the field in the opening 20 minutes while holding Montana State just 31 percent shooting.
The Hornets improved their field goal efficiency to 50 percent after halftime as they cruised to the 25-point victory.
Sacramento State scored 25 points off of 13 Montana State turnovers while committing just six miscues itself.
