New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Carl Hagelin scored the series-clinching goal at 10:52 of overtime as the New York Rangers advanced with a 2-1 victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins in Game 5 of this Eastern Conference quarterfinal series. In the extra session, Dominic Moore controlled the puck in the right corner boards and Hagelin eventually worked it out, whipping a shot in from the right circle for the win. Derek Stepan had the other goal and Henrik Lundqvist made 37 saves for the Rangers, who won a first-round matchup for the fourth straight time and will face the winner of the Washington/NY Islanders series in the semifinals. Nick Spaling had the only goal of the game for the Penguins, who had lost to the Rangers in the semifinals last season. Marc-Andre Fleury stopped 34 shots in the loss.
The NBA announced its officials made incorrect non-calls on both of Stephen Curry's 3-pointers in the final minute of regulation during the Warriors' 123-119 overtime win in Game 3 against the New Orleans Pelicans.
Chicago Bulls forward Nikola Mirotic's bruised left knee is feeling better, though coach Tom Thibodeau is unsure whether the rookie will be available for Game 4 of the team's first-round playoff series at Milwaukee on Saturday.
