DELHI -- Four people received minor stab wounds early Sunday morning when they were attacked by a 17-year-old Sureno criminal street gang member, according to Merced County Sheriff's Department reports.
Deputy Matt Green said none of the wounds, made from either a screwdriver or an icepick, was life-threatening. Two of the four people injured were taken to the emergency room of Emanuel Medical Center in Turlock for treatment of hand and chest injuries.
Green said the incident took place about 2 a.m. outside a residence near Delhi and Mimosa streets in Delhi and only lasted a couple of minutes. The 17-year-old, taken to Merced County Juvenile Hall following his arrest on aggravated assault charges, ran up on the porch and stabbed the others after an exchange of words. He was on probation at the time of the assault.
Sgt. Paul Roseman said Detective Lane Clark continues to investigate the incident, which is believed to be gang-related.
