DELHI -- Three or four men are suspected of breaking into a Delhi home early Sunday morning, tying up the occupants and stealing some items from the residence.
Sgt. Scott Dover of the Merced County Sheriff's Department said the home invasion robbery was reported at 5:12 a.m. Sunday in the 12000 block of El Capitan Avenue. The robbers are believed to be Hispanic males but no further description was available.
The robbers, armed with handguns, demanded money and tied up the occupants' hands behind their backs. When told there was no money, the robbers ransacked the home, ultimately stealing keys and some cell phones, but no cash. The robbers fled from the area in an unknown vehicle, according to Dover.
The victims told deputies they didn't know why they were targeted. Dover said it's possible the robbers intended to strike another residence.
