Two high school students were injured and two others arrested in connection with an assault Wednesday afternoon at a school bus stop in the 1000 block of K Street.
Another student not involved in the fracas captured the incident on video with a cell phone, leading to two arrests.
Sgt. Cruz Jasso of the Merced Police Department said a 17-year-old Golden Valley High School student was knocked unconscious and beaten severely while her companion also was roughed up less seriously in the after-school incident.
The girl was taken to the Community Campus of Mercy Medical Center Merced where she was treated and later released.

Jasso said a 17-year-old girl was identified on the cell phone video and arrested late Thursday morning by Officer James Lodwick.
She was booked into Merced County Juvenile Hall on a felony aggravated assault charge.
Another 17-year-old girl was arrested on a misdemeanor assault and battery charge after she was identified by school officials who watched the cell phone footage.
"The video helped tremendously. The girl was knocked to the ground, kicked and punched. She was beat up pretty good," Jasso said.
The assault victim went home and didn't tell anyone initially what happened. The fight was sparked by rumors, Jasso said.
