Assisted by Special Weapons and Tactics officers, Merced Police Department gang unit officers broke down the door on a Merced apartment and arrested the tenant on drug charges early Sunday morning.
Officer Jobe Sandhagen of the Gang Violence Suppression Unit said it was believed Anthony Bonilla, 22, of Merced had a weapon but none was located during the 7:30 a.m. execution of a search warrant at an apartment in the 1400 block of East 21st Street.
Sandhagen said his drug canine Jamie alerted on a kitchen cabinet where six ounces of marijuana in individual packages, concealed behind boxes of rice, was found. Scales used to weigh the drugs were found along with a holster and a gun-cleaning kit.
SWAT officers busted down the front door and located Bonilla in a hallway where he did not resist arrest.
